Vocal ensemble Excelsa Voces have a well-deserved reputation for performances of great beauty.
Led by soprano Paula Evans, since their formation in 2016 the ensemble have created immersive concert experiences featuring ancient & modern music combined with site-specific lighting design - exploring the space and architecture of each venue to create meditative and immersive sonic experiences.
E.V have performed at Pershore Abbey, Worcestershire, Clearwell Caves in the Forest of Dean, Tewkesbury Abbey, Worcester Cathedral, Greyfriars Kirk in Edinburgh, The Nest at Ledbury and the beautiful medieval Guild Chapel in Stratford-upon-Avon - and the odyssey continues...

'Towards The Within' - Pershore Abbey, 2016
Joining forces with pianist-composer Chris Long and cellist Tom McMahon, Excelsa Voces have presented wide-ranging contemporary music (Gavin Bryars, Meredith Monk, Joby Talbot, Arvo Part, Olivier Messaien, Chris Long & others) alongside Early and Medieval music (Palestrina, Cristobal de Morales, Hildegard of Bingen etc), and alongside live drone-based improvisation.
In 2018 Excelsa Voces were delighted to premiere a brand new work for voices, written by Robert Fripp and Andrew Keeling. 'Pie Jesu' received performances at Edinburgh Festival and Tewkesbury Abbey - see the 'Pie Jesu' page on this website.
